In recent years, perhaps no other inshore style of boat has gained more popularity than the hybrid-bay boat. Savvy boaters with some time on the water have discovered that when the versatility of a do-all boat is still a priority but you want to narrow down the functionality of a boat to cater to coastal fishing while not sacrificing family friendliness, a hybrid-bay model is a logical option.
The Savannah Hybrid Inshore Series features a trio of models designed with just such a boater in mind. These are dead serious fishing platforms that easily convert to sandbar duty with the addition of seat cushions and padded backrests for lounging.
One of the most desirable traits of this hull design is its ability to make the transition from patrolling inshore shallows or deep flats, to drifting an open pass- then moving seamlessly to the nearshore wrecks and reefs along with coastal beaches- even when the wind kicks up a nasty chop. A challenge that any boat builder is faced with when trying to achieve the perfect balance of shallow running capabilities combined with a soft ride in choppy conditions is the proper deadrise angle for the hull’s bottom. The necessary ingredient for floating shallow requires a flat bottom that won’t drag along the bottom. By contrast, taming an unruly coastal chop requires the appropriate amount of deadrise or V-shape to part oncoming waves.
The Savannah Boat Works design team believes we’ve found the perfect amount of deadrise for maximum efficiency and performance with our Hybrid Inshore Series. Our inshore models feature a ride that rivals any other bay boat on the water. Built to carry you and your family safely and comfortably across broad expanses of open water from the ocean beaches to wide open bays. After all, very often simply getting to your spot is half the battle. You can take off for the day with confidence in either model.
At Savannah Boat Works, we take as much pride in the esthetic quality of our work as you will in owning one of these models. Many of the standard features included with these models is often a luxury add-on with our competitors. Tilt Hydraulic steering, Premium Audio system, Simrad Electronics package, Fresh Water Washdown, and a Hydraulic Jack Plate among other items are standard equipment. A full complement of luxury add-ons is also available to complete your custom package.
For equal parts style and protection from the weather, add a matching fiberglass hard top with integrated spreader lights. A stylish matching helm station leaning post provides both a comfortable position for the helmsman and companion as well as a platform to house an insulated drink cooler and tackle storage. Each of these components can be powder coated for a more finished appearance. LED accent lighting both above deck as well as underwater are not only functional, they also level up the cool factor for your evening boat outings.
From a fishing standpoint, nothing is overlooked on these models. All feature the most efficient design and layout necessary to address the needs of the coastal angler. Raised casting decks both fore and aft combined with a 67 square foot sunken cockpit to keep your family safely inside the boat while underway provide the perfect combination for efficiency. Add fishing amenities such as a trolling motor and powered stake anchors, multiple live wells, rod holders to spare, and tackle storage and you’ve got all of the tools you’ll need for your angling adventure.
One of the most notable features that make a hybrid-bay model such an effective tool for coastal anglers is the ability to spread a few anglers out comfortably for sight fishing opportunities. By taking advantage of your elevated perspective 360-degrees around the boat, sight casting to targets coming from any direction is made easier and every opportunity can be capitalized upon. On a solo mission? Simply stand alone on the foredeck and let the trolling motor carry you along leaving your hands free to cast at oncoming targets.
Your Hybrid Inshore model is ready for a quiet early morning fishing followed by rallying the family for an afternoon at the sandbar. At 2500 pounds, they’re easy to tow over the road, will pull a tube or a skier, float in just over a foot of water but offer comfort and stability beyond the jetties on the open water. At this boat’s core is the ability to cover all of your bases regardless of how you plan to spend the day at the coast. Your possibilities are limitless.
